'The Musical Maverick' by Ashis Ghatak
After reading 'The Musical Maverick' by Ashis Ghatak, I felt like I know Shankar Mahadevan more than ever before, from his childhood struggles to becoming one of the world's most famous singers and stars. The book beautifully highlights his life, achievements, journey through various albums, and provides insights into the stories behind the music. I appreciate the writing style, as I haven't encountered such a book on any singer/musician/composer before.
Whenever I delve into the book, memories flood back, and I find myself singing songs like 'Dil Chahta Hai' and others. The nostalgia I feel is exceptional, especially recalling moments with songs/movie like 'Bunty aur Babli' and 'Salaam-e-Ishq' where I used to dance endlessly. The book provides a nostalgic journey, allowing me to relive every moment through Shankar sir's music.
The inclusion of his team, Ehsaan and Loy, other... adds depth to the narrative. I'm delighted to have experienced this incredible work by the author. The title and cover are also appealing, prompting many friends to inquire about my thoughts. I highly recommend this book to those who enjoy delving into the backstory of their childhood memories.
